About Me

Born in Lancaster, California, I was a boy with a great imagination with an unquenchable thirst for learning. Throughout my K-12 years, I used my imagination in various academics including Art, Band, and Computers. I remember my first programming experience during my senior year of high school. I was taking a computer class and we were learning to design an animated Christmas scene using the limited capabilities of BASIC on an Apple IIE. Little did I know that computers would one day become my life.

My Experience with Customers

While in college, I worked several jobs ranging from an Italian Bakery to an Auto Part Distributor. Throughout all these jobs, I gained invaluable experience working with people and helping customers find what they are looking for. I also interacted with a whole spectrum of people, and provided service in many different industries. These years of training, helped me in my latter business venture.

My History Degree

After several years at California Polytechnic University in Pomona California, I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in History. My History degree has been instrumental in my growth as a developer because it taught me how to communicate through writing. It also taught me to learn from others, especially those who have lived life before us. As the saying goes, "Why reinvent the wheel!"

My Pursuit to Become a Teacher

"Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever."
Mahatma Gandhi
My High School Graduation Motto

After graduating college, I enrolled in the California Polytechnic University Teaching Credential Program. This is where my most important skill was developed. The core belief in all teachers is a desire to be a life-long learner. We should never come to a place where we think we have learned it all, but must strive to learn new things. This has been priceless in furthering my Web Development skills.

Along Came Coding

After graduating with my Teaching Credential, a real life experience made me realize the need for a robust website that would aid people in their search for a church. I only had one problem. How do you build a website? So I hopped on the web, and began scouring for tutorials and forums for the tools to create my new website. After several months my site was finished and launched onto the World Wide Web. One of my friends, who owned a web development business for several years, saw my work and asked me to help him on one of his projects. Eventually, I was asked to become a partner in his company, PolySys Consulting, LLC. (DBA. Salamander Web Solutions).

Successful Growth

After being in the company for 1 year, we saw substantial growth in the number of incoming clients and the quality of websites delivered. As a partner, I had several duties:

  • Marketing - brought in new clientele through organizations like Business Network International and many local chambers of commerce,
  • Development - created and maintained customer websites,
  • Research and Development - led and developed our own templating system, content management system, blogging engine, gallery management system, and calendar management system,
  • Project Management - identified and organized all necessary specifications for each project including database structure, code usage, and site optimization, and
  • Customer Service - met with clients to determine project scope and estimate project costs.

Now What?

After three years in the company, it was finally time for me to move on. I find myself at a new point in my life where I have an opportunity to broaden my learning horizons. My objective now is to find a company where my passion for learning and life experiences can be an invaluable asset.
